What Happens During a Hypnotherapy Session

Hypnotherapy is a combination of hypnosis and conversation-based therapy.

Hypnosis is a natural and safe state of focused attention and relaxation. Being in a relaxed state allows you to more easily access your unconscious mind and bring memories and feelings into the conscious so they can be explored, understood, and healed.

I offer 50-minute and 80-minute hypnotherapy sessions. Sessions are held online, so you can connect from wherever you are.

During the session

The hypnotherapy session will begin with a discussion to explore your particular issue or set of issues. During the first session, I will ask a set of intake questions to allow you to share helpful background information.

This is typically followed by hypnosis to create a period of focused attention and relaxation. This may last approximately 25 to 35 minutes.

It’s important for you to be in a comfortable location where you can recline. You may wish to wear headphones during the session for the best experience.

During hypnosis, I may guide you in exploring the root cause of your discomfort. Additionally, I may provide targeted suggestions to support you.

My process uses a combination of analytical hypnotherapy and suggestion hypnotherapy.

Analytical hypnotherapy, or hypnoanalysis, aims to discover and resolve the root cause of an issue or discomfort. Suggestion hypnotherapy, sometimes referred to as traditional hypnotherapy, uses a process of hypnosis and suggestions to encourage a change in behaviour.

The session will close with additional discussion and talk therapy. You will likely feel deeply relaxed and calm during and after the first session.

I take an organic approach to long-term work, and each session may follow a slightly different format based on your specific needs.

Between sessions

Multi-week programs include support between sessions via email to help you on your healing journey.
