Yoga Nidra (or yogic sleep) is a powerful and gentle self-care tool to access deep levels of peace and tranquillity. The process takes you into a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, like the ‘going-to-sleep’ state of being, sometimes induced by a guided meditation or hypnosis.
This recording will guide you through systematic deep relaxation. You’ll shift your nervous system into a calm state by tensing and releasing muscles throughout the body.
Do this practice lying down on a soft surface like a bed or sofa, or on a yoga mat placed on the floor. You may wish to place a pillow under your head, and put a bolster or cushion under your knees.
You may also wish to place an eye mask (or lightweight scarf) over your eyes, and place a lightweight blanket on your body.
